Make a donation for the heart echo lab.

Help us build the Heart ECHO Laboratory at Orcas Community Integrative Medicine Clinic ( OCIMC). Our first goal is to purchase a Heart Echo Machine, also known as a Echocardiography, which helps us provide patients with an echo test or heart ultrasound, a test that takes “moving pictures” of the heart with sound waves. Because Orcas Island does not currently have a Heart Echo lab or the latest equipment, the OCIMC clinic is raising funds for one in 2022. Having this equipment on island means we can save lives and our islanders do not have to leave to visit a hospital. We have received a generous donation to kick off this project. If you would like to donate, please use the Bloomerang Donation button in the header above or reach out to us at vshu@wins-medicine.org or by telephone at 360-376-2564

  • Donate to the OICM clinic

The Orcas Community Integrative Medicine Clinic treats all patients regardless of socio-economic status on a sliding scale basis. If you would like to support this program, please consider donating to that fund or sponsoring the treatment of a friend or islander you know who cannot afford treatment. The clinic is also raising funds for an ultrasound machine to better treat patients with cardiology/heart issues, pregnancy, and other issues.

  • Help us Build a College of Integrative Medicine on Orcas Island

We are seeking donations to build a College of Integrative Medicine on Orcas Island. The college would consist of a comprehensive 3-year Master degree program that encompasses the five modalities of traditional Chinese medicine, including the requisite Western Biomedical Sciences as well as other required subjects. The college would also provide:

-Certificate and diploma in Herbal Medicine -Scholar farmer/ scholar gardener program: to grow Chinese Herbal Medicine and to discover new Herbal Medicine in the San Juan Islands-Internship to China where students can learn Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine as well as how to grow Chinese Herbal Medicine in the Pacific Northwest. - Clinical experience in the WINS Community Clinic Center for Integrative Medicine

  • Give to the Research Institute for Life Sciences

In anticipation of establishing an integrative Cardio-Oncology Clinic under our OCIM umbrella, we are seeking private donations to support a research project seeking to answer the following question:

Can acupuncture improve the clinical outcomes of cancer patients who develop chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity?

Grants and donations would fund a thorough review of background problems and issues by reviewing existing literature and studies on the subject, in addition to a prospective pilot outcome study using Longitudinal Strain (GLS) and Mechanical Dispersion Index. The data-driven outcome study/research project would include a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study in healthy subjects using a common Chinese Herbal Formula to study the flow cytometry and cDNA expression arrays to assess immune functions and gene expression.
