Welcome

Welcome to the Washington Institute of Natural Sciences (W.I.N.S.), home of the Orcas Community Integrative Medicine Clinic (OCIMC), the Research Institute for Life Sciences, and the future home of the W.I.N.S. College of Integrative Medicine.

Set on the gem of the San Juan Islands

Our future college, our OCIMC primary care + integrative medicine clinic, and our research institute are located on beautiful Orcas Island in the Pacific Northwest, between Vancouver, B.C., and Seattle. It is an idyllic place to appreciate nature, research, focus on one’s health and expand one’s knowledge of the natural sciences and eastern and western medicine.

Founder Dr. Vincent Shu has served as a health care provider to the Orcas community since 2016 and to Friday Harbor and San Juan Island since 2013. He is board-certified in internal medicine, geriatrics, and cardiovascular diseases. He received his MD degree in Taiwan, completed his residency and training at UC Irvine and UC Davis, and has worked at five different hospitals over the years. He now specializes in the integration of Eastern and Western medicine, and with a team of providers aims to help people heal in the most natural ways possible.

The W.I.N.S. mission is to promote a joyous, healthier community in a loving and caring way.

Everyone at W.I.N.S. believes that a collaborative approach with other medical specialties and disciplines is vital to success, with a goal to help patients overcome their health challenges with an emphasis on education, natural medicines and preventive health.

The scope of practice includes internal medicine, integrative medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and echocardiography, as well as acupuncture and acupressure.

HELP US help others

In late November we will be able to receive charitable donations to support the sliding scale treatments we provide at the Orcas Community Integrative MedicineCclinic (OCIMC), the research we conduct at the Research Institute for Life Sciences, and to help build our College of Integrative Medicine, an endeavor that will train practitioners in integrative medicine so that we can bring health and joy to more islanders, create jobs on Orcas Island, and contribute wellness to the greater good. All great endeavors take a community to give them strength and we appreciate your support and interest.
